My name is Brianna McCrae. I graduated from Lake Ridge High School in 2018. I was appointed to the United States Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. I enlisted into the Navy and spent a year at Naval Station Newport as an E1 competing for a spot at the Naval Academy. Unfortunately, towards the end of the year, I broke my shin and was medically disqualified from the Academy. I received an honorable discharge and was then tasked with finding a school that would accept me so late in the school year.

Thankfully, Texas A&M University at Galveston gave me an opportunity and opened up their application process for me. I was accepted, but I had to go in as a Marine Engineering Technology major and not as an engineering major like I wanted. None the less, I did the best I could my freshman year hoping that I could do a changing major for my sophomore year. I joined the Corps of Cadets where I was a member of the armed drill and color guard.

I received a 4.0 for my freshman year and was accepted into the Nuclear Engineering program here at main campus. Since then, I have added a minor in Radiological Health Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. I was accepted into the Health Physics research group under Dr. John Ford and became a member of TAMU's American Nuclear Society.

I am now in my junior year and just became eligible for my Aggie Ring! I hope to graduate with honors and go on to become a Health Physicist and aid in the fight against cancer. Again I would like to thank all of you at the Ingram Lee Foundation for your support and I look forward to creating a great connection with you guys.
